We take a look at the top performances in the first 17 matches of the 2011 World Cup. At the top of the list is Kevin O'Brien. Ireland was all in sorts of trouble at 106-4 chasing 328 when he came to the middle.
Malinga hat-trick vs Kenya: Lasith Malinga missed Sri Lanka's first two World Cup matches because of a sore back. Malinga returned for Sri Lanka's match against Kenya, and proceeded to dismantle the opposition's batting line-up with his fiery brand of bowling filled with inswinging yorkers.
Sehwag and Kohli vs Bangladesh: The Delhi duo got the 2011 World Cup off to a dream start with their 203-run partnership for the third wicket as India posted an imposing score of 370 for 4 on the board against Bangladesh.
Tendulkar's century vs England: Sachin Tendulkar started his innings slowly but picked up the pace eventually as he hit some sublime shots and was especially harsh on England's spin ace Graeme SWann at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. Tendulkar was finally dismissed for 120 (115 balls, 10 boundaries and 5 sixes), as he scored his 47th one-day and 98th international century.
Strauss's century vs India: It is not often that a Tendulkar century is overshadowed, but England captain Andrew Strauss managed to do just that during his masterpiece 145-ball 158 as his team managed to tie the match against India in Bangalore.
Roach hat-trick vs Netherlands: The Dutch were never in the match after West Indies had scored 330 for 8 at the Feroz Shah Kotla, and Windies pace bowler Kemar Roach ensured the associate member wouldn't harbour any ambitions of an upset win when he dismissed Wesley Barresi and Bas Zuiderent as Netherlands slipped to 35 for 4 inside the first 10 overs.

Ryan ten Doeschate's century vs England: The best known player from Netherlands - ten Doeschate - made an immediate impression on the 2011 World Cup as he put the English attack to the sword enroute to his 110-ball 119, which included nine hits to the boundary and three over it. Ten Doeschate was especially severe on James Anderson and Stuart Broad as he also played some innovative shots.
AB de Villiers century vs WI: South Africa was in some early trouble chasing West Indies' 222 as they lost Hashim Amla and Jacques Kallis with only 20 runs on the board. De Villiers and captain Graeme Smith brought the Proteas back on track with a 119-run partnership for the third wicket, with the former being the dominant partner as he took the initiative away from the West Indies's bowlers.
Jayawardena vs Canada: Mahela Jayawardena smashed the fastest World Cup century by a Sri Lankan during his 81-ball 100. The stylish Jayawardena kept the scoreboard ticking over by not only hitting the boundaries but also finding gaps in the field as he ran the ones and twos as he gave the hapless Canadaian bowling attack a lot to think about.
Johnson's bowling vs Zimbabwe and NZ: When on song, Mitchell Johnson is a joy to watch - well, not if you are the opposition batsman! And, in Australia's first two matches of the World Cup against Zimbabwe and New Zealand, Johnson has taken 4-19 and 4-33 respectively. Not only has Johnson got the wickets, his control over line and length in those matches have also been spot on.
Hamish Bennett vs Kenya: New Zealand's medium-fast bowler took the heart out of Kenya's batting line-up as he took four wickets in 10 balls as the Africans slipped to 49 for 5 from 40 for 1. Kenya failed to recover from Bennett's burst and was bundled out for a paltry 69 in 23.4 overs; Martin Guptill and Brendon McCullum hardly broke any sweat as New Zealand won the match by 10 wickets.
Taibu and Ervine's partnership vs Canada: Zimbabwe had been reduced to 7 for 2 against Canada in Nagpur, and if it wasn't for the the 181-run partnership for the third wicket between Tatenda Taibu (98) and Craig Ervine (85), the Zimbabweans could have been in a spot of bother.
Shafiul Islam vs Ireland: The Irish seemed to be on the way to overhauling Bangladesh's score of 205, when Shafiul Islam swung the way in the co-hosts' favour as he dismissed Kevin O'Brien, Andre Botha, Trent Johnston and Boyd Rankin, as Ireland lost their last five wickets for 27 runs and were bowled out for 178.
De Villiers and Amla vs Netherlands: After the dismissals of Graeme Smith and Jacques Kallis within 16 balls of each other, Netherlands could have harboured visions of restricting South Africa to a competitive total. However, those hopes were soon turned to dust by Hashim Amla and AB de Villiers as the pair added 221 runs for the third wicket as South Africa amassed 351 for 5.
